I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Carnes, and all of her co-workers at SCAN. Our 12 year old terrier mix, Rex, suddenly was incapacitated and unable to walk. Not knowing what was wrong, we rushed him to Soutwest Florida Veterinary Specialists, who referred us to SCAN. We were seen promptly and at that time met Dr. Carnes. She got on the floor with Rex, and she and her assistant, Lacy, did a thorough exam, and gave us the probable diagnoses of a ruptured disc in his neck. Dr. Carnes then went through a treatment plan which would be under taken that very day, to get poor Rex out of pain. From just that short visit, we had complete confidence in her professional knowledge and ability. We were very emotional when we left Rex. Dr. Carnes, and her co-workers did everything they said they would by calling us and keeping us informed at each step of the way, including a text and picture of him in ICU. And happily, Rex had a great outcome. We cannot thank Dr. Carnes enough! We highly recommend SCAN for their tender loving care of a beloved pet, but, also for their care of us!
Most Sincerely, Rex, Pat, and Karen

Response from the owner:

Dear Pat,

It warms our hearts here at SCAN-Naples to know that your experience was such a positive one when your sweet Rex was injured. It is so hard to see your furry family member have difficulty walking and experiencing pain; we are always eager to diagnose and treat these patients so that they can rapidly get back to their happy lives. As you saw first-hand, Dr. Carnes and our entire team are truly the best in the field. You made the best possible decision in trusting your Rex to us. We don’t take that decision lightly! We are so happy to hear that he is doing well and we thank you for sharing your 5-Star Google Review!

I can’t thank enough the Scan team – my pup Brooke needed emergency surgery, and although far from home, I was lucky to be referred here. Cesar did the initial interview until Dr. Carnes arrived – so kind and made you feel at ease instantly. Dr. Carnes sat on the floor with Brooke, observing, answered all of my inane, overly protective questions, and clearly outlined the next steps. During Brooke’s stay, Kristine emailed me photos and a little update every night. Also special thanks to Li, Lacey and Margaret. Li greets you with kindness and always willing to help. Her steady hand at the front desk is so important. Lacey and Margaret took great care of Brooke during her stay and were so sweet. Dr. Carnes combines the best qualities of a professional and a compassionate human being. She is confident and knowledgeable, and an excellent diagnostician and surgeon. Brooke had a reaction to medication – a small stumble – Dr. Carnes figured it out immediately, fixed the problem, promised that everything would be ok and it was. Brooke’s recovery has been fast and pretty amazing, exactly as Dr. Carnes predicted. She is up to her Dennis the Menace” tricks and is as feisty a doxie as ever. If you ever need a specialist, then this is the place and this is the team you want in your corner. Thank you all again.

Although no one ever wants to hear that their baby has to go to see a specialist, this is the place you want to go to IF you find yourself in that situation. I had to leave my pup here for a couple of days, which was not easy, but with the constant updates via email, pictures & text messages from Dr Carnes and her staff.. the whole process was much less stressful than I had anticipated. Thank you so much for all that you do ❤

Response from the owner:

Sylvia,
Such a pleasure to hear from you, and to receive your 5-Star Google Review. It’s great to hear that Dr. Carnes, and our compassionate staff, were able to ease your fears during this difficult time. We take pride in making sure each and every patient (and parent) experience is the best that it can be. Thank you for sharing and for your review of SCAN-Naples.

I’m searching for the proper word or words to describe the medical treatment received at SCAN by our six-year old long-haired dachshund Sasha and conclude that ‘perfect’ aptly fits on all fronts. A perfect outcome is what counted most but the experience, professionalism, decision making, patience, facility, amazing-amazing staff and the comfort, patience and careful explanations along the way were, well, perfect as well.

Sasha had a ruptured disk with material from the disk affecting the spinal cord and causing great pain to my little girl. The wonderful Doctor Carnes and Dr. Archambault …. truly hands of God …. walked me through the analysis, explained the MRI images and what would happen during the surgery. The night she spent pre-surgery and the night post-surgery included reassuring texts and photos; an early morning emergency, a false alarm by a frightened and fidgety dad, was timely answered and settled; her recovery over the ensuing days was exactly predicated.

Response from the owner:

Mr. Picker,

On behalf of Dr. Carnes, Dr. Archambault and our entire staff, we thank you for your Google Review of SCAN-Naples. It’s our mission to deliver expert, compassionate, life-saving care to each and every patient when they need us most. To know that we exceeded your expectations during this difficult time is so very rewarding. As you already know, Sasha is truly special to us and we are happy to hear how well she is doing. We look forward to hearing about her continued success. Again, we thank you for trusting us with your Sasha and for your review of SCAN-Naples.

Amazing experience- wonderful place. Dr. Archambault and his team took such good care of my baby. I was so afraid for Jake being in the pain he was in and having to face surgery, but they kept me informed through the whole process and sent me pictures and updates while he was in recovery. I could not have asked for more. He is recovering well and getting back to normal. Thank you for all you did for my Jake!

Response from the owner:

Dr. Carnes and her staff performed immediate back surgery on our french bulldog for shattered disk’s. From the start to the finish words can not say enough how passionate, knowledgeable and caring her and her team are. This place is the best in the business and uparalled to any other. To see her and her team operate at such a high level and with so much passion is one of a kind. WE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Compassionate staff, meticulous care. Dr. Archambault was extremely thorough and explained everything very well. He gave me realistic advice and accommodated our late arrival. He spent the better part of an hour on the floor with my cat doing a neuro assessment. I would not hesitate to bring my pet there again, and will be following up with this clinic regularly. Their prices are very reasonable as well.

Response from the owner:

Dear Mr. Campero,

On behalf of Dr. Archambault and the entire staff at SCAN Naples, we thank you for your review. We’re here for you and Bella always and we’re happy to serve you and your feline friend. Thank you again from all of us here at SCAN Naples.

Dr.Carnes has done surgery on my dog and also had to diagnose her with other complicated neurological issues. If you love your pet, this is the Doctor you want to see. Her and her staff are the best in the business. I drive from Ft.Myers just to take my animals there who need her services.

Response from the owner:

Dear Lisa, Thank you very much for your Google Review. We are happy to hear that we have exceeded your expectations. Knowing that we have been able to successfully diagnose and treat your best friend when you needed us most is incredibly rewarding. Our doctors, administration and staff thank you! From : The Bouchard Family I went into the SCAN office carrying my sweet Murdoch who couldn’t walk, use the bathroom… He was scared, in pain and shaking. So was his mama( a blubbering mess, actually)! Dr. Carnes examined him and looked at me and said, we can fix this. She was calm , she was reassuring and I looked into her eyes and I felt that he was going to be ok. The MRI showed a large disc herniation and surgery was done. My Murdoch is 4 weeks out and running and playing just like he used to. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The staff is superb also. Thank you for all you have done for our Murdoch

Having come from the SCAN facility in Naples, Florida today after the checkup of my best friend of 9 years, Riley Dachshund, I wish to give my sincere thanks to Dr. Nicholas Archambault and his staff of wonderful caring people. The MRI discovered Riley had two Disc Herniations at C5-6 at his shoulders. He had lost all control of his front legs. After trying rest and medication for 2 weeks at the local vet, SCAN was recommended to me. After much anxiety, Dr Nick and his wonderful assistant Cesar Altamirano along with the other Technicians operated. I was able to bring Riley home 3 days later. With 15 days additional therapy at home, he is now walking with all four feet planted solidly on the floor and following me everywhere. They have recommended some additional strength therapy, such as swimming, and they believe he will be back to his old rambunctious self. The Doctors, and Technicians and Office Personnel are wonderful, kind caring people. I would recommend this facility for Animal Neurology to anyone who loves their Companion as I do my Riley. I am an 82 year old, handicapped widow. And with SCAN and Gods Grace hopefully with continue to enjoy my Best Friend. Thank you all.

Response from the owner:

Dear Ms. Hess,
Thank you so much for your wonderful review of SCAN-Naples! Riley is such a special boy and he has a huge fan club here at SCAN; it was so great to see his beautiful personality shine during his re-check! Reading your story and kind words literally brought “happy” tears to our eyes as it epitomizes everything that we strive for at SCAN. Most of all, returning our wonderful patients back to their adoring “parents” to live their happy little lives that they so deserve!

Best regards,
The SCAN-Naples Team

Dr. Carnes and her staff are life savers! Our beloved beagle Bella had ruptured a disk and was in immense pain. We were very hesitant to consider surgery but found it was the only option offering relief. Dr. Carnes assured us and even stayed late to perform the surgery. Our dog has made a miraculous recovery and my wife and I can’t say enough good things about this practice. If your beloved furry family member is in need you could not find better care.

Response from the owner:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Bechtold,

Thank you so much for sharing your story of Bella’s visit with SCAN-Naples! Bella is such a sweet girl and we were so happy to have had the privilege of caring for her. At SCAN, our primary concern is our patients’ care and comfort; it is so rewarding to be able to almost immediately alleviate Bella’s pain through surgery. You both are such caring pet parents and were wonderful to work with – Bella is a lucky girl!!

We were referred to SCAN from our vet when our 6 year old French Bulldog, Perseus, was in extreme pain and unable to use some of his legs. Our entire experience was wonderful. Shout out to Li at the front desk, our technician, Lacey and Dr. Archambault for taking such great care of our boy. They did his exam, MRI and eventually the surgery he required to repair a herniated disc, all at our first visit. We were able to bring Perseus home 2 days later. We were called multiple times a day with updates on Perseus, and then again after we had been home for a couple of days. We are so grateful to the entire SCAN team for giving our little guy some relief.

Response from the owner:

Dear Mrs. Syngo,

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at SCAN-Naples! It warms our hearts to be able to help patients like Perseus; our entire objective at SCAN is to treat our patients and ‘pet parents’ with compassion and state of the art veterinary care. Perseus is such a great little buddy – we can’t wait to see him back on his re-check!

Sincerely.

Our 6yr old puggle, Rocky experienced severe back pain and was unable to use his back legs. After referral to SCAN and work up,
Including MRI, he was diagnosed with a herniated disc. Dr Carns and her team did emergency surgery on a Saturday night. Two days later Rocky was able to come home. Now he’s recovering well, he is almost walking normal, and returning to his normal daily routines. We are so blessed to have Dr Carns and her staff and very thankful that she was able to help our little buddy. SCAN is a wonderful facility and took fantastic care or our dog.

We brought our 8 year old female bichon for a cat scan on Tuesday,
January 17, to rule out cancer. Every person that we interacted with and that our dog saw was very pleasant. We especially appreciated
Dr. Carnes tender care of our baby. We feel very lucky to have ruled
out any problems.
Thanks. Barbara

Our Bedlington Terrier, Charlie, has been a patient of Dr. Carnes’ and her team since January 2016. At that time, after having his first seizure, he was diagnosed with a benign hemangioma in his brain. He was almost 13 years old! Dr. Carnes felt she could operate and successfully remove the tumor since he was otherwise in excellent health. Charlie sailed through the surgery and was up and walking around shortly after. We visited Dr. Carnes for Charlie’s 6 month check up today, and at almost 14 he sailed through the exam. He is a happy, healthy puppy and we are forever grateful to Dr. Carnes and her team. They are the best!!!!

Response from the owner:

We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience at Specialists in Companion Animal Neurology! Charlie is one of our very special patients, he is so full of character and loves life! At SCAN, we love what we do because we so often can make such a positive impact on our patient’s and pet parent’s lives. With our beloved companion animals, the focus must always be on restoring good quality of life; we are proud to see that we were able to do that for your beloved Charlie!

The staff of Specialists in Companion Animal Neurology (SCAN) and Dr. Nick Archambault, a Veterinary Neurologist and Neurosurgeon on staff, helped us say goodbye to our beloved standard poodle, Ben.

SCAN allowed an emergency same-day appointment the day before Thanksgiving. Dr. Archambault and staff were fantastic with Ben as he was very, very sick. I was struck at how they immediately went to his level laying on the floor trying to make Ben feel safe and comfortable. Only the lateness of the day and the Thanksgiving holiday delayed the MRI.

We took Ben back on Friday morning after Thanksgiving for his MRI. Dr. Archambault clearly struggled to find the right words as he told us that Ben had an inoperable malignant tumor invading his spinal cord. As a physician myself, he went on to show me the details of the MRI as I tried to internally grapple with the impending loss of my very dear companion. My children got to say goodbye to Ben in a comfortable and loving manner at SCAN.

Rebooking her flight to a day earlier, I picked up my wife later that same day and drove down to SCAN to say our final goodbyes. Ben had been spoiled by the staff with treats and chicken before we arrived. My wife and I held Ben as Dr. Archambault helped him comfortably slip away surrounded by the two that probably loved him the most, out of many. Dr. Archambault was so very kind and patient with us unable to hold back his own tears as we said goodbye to our dear Ben.

SCAN’s sensitivity, as well as Dr. Nick Archambault’s expertise and empathy will forever be remembered. I have never seen such professionalism and kindness in a veterinary practice and highly recommend SCAN and Dr. Archambault to those that need them.

Response from the owner:

Dear Dr. Sweet,

Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your story. Our deepest condolences are offered to you and your family on the loss of your best buddy, Ben. It warms my heart to know that Dr. Archambault and our staff were able to provide some comfort to your family and Ben to say your goodbyes. At SCAN, our mission is to treat our patients like they are our own pets – giving them treats and extra blankets to cuddle with – and we very often get attached to them. So when it is time to help our pet parents say goodbye, it tugs on our hearts too – even though we all know the greatest gift that we can give to our beloved pets is to help them pass away peacefully.

Best regards,

“upon needing a neurologist for my Missy who was having seizures, I was introduced to Dr. Carnes & staff at S.C.A.N.
Being very confused & nervous of what was happening with my 11yr old puppy,
from the start of consultation & exam, I felt total confidence that I had found the proper facility to help in the best possible way to keep my girl alive for much longer, back to living normally for many more puppy loving days & years to come.
The compassion & comfort of the procedure needed was scary, but at the same time I felt confident this was the only way to save my baby.
Dr. Carnes & staff was so informative throughout, I had many tears of worry, they had many smiles of confidence.
They kept me posted along the way from when Missy was going under anesthesia to when she woke & her status. they even sent me a photo the next morning as I live over 50 miles away. I got update calls & I could call at any time & given updates.I brought my baby home after 48 hrs as I was told from the start.
3-4wks recovery & my Missy is back to ruling the roost as we say, she has me trained very well!
Forgot to tell ya;
My Missy had a, “Meningioma Tumor”, yes, Brain Surgery.

Many Hugs to Dr, Carnes & Staff,
Steve, Missy, & 3 other Puppies, My Mom, Brother & Step-Bro.”

“I can’t say enough about the wonderful care our dog, Tess received at Animal Specialty Hospital! We were going out of town for a family event and two days before we were leaving Tess woke up and could barely walk. We took her to our vet and she recommended taking Tess to Dr. Carnes. Dr. Carnes and Cesar were caring, compassionate professionals who took time to explain that Tess would need an MRI to determine if she was able to have surgery. Tess did have surgery for 2 herniated discs. Dr. Carnes called us prior to surgery and afterwards, not only did she explain what needed to be done but answered all of our questions in a way that was both caring and never rushed.

Each day that Tess was in the hospital we were called and given updates, again we never felt rushed and always felt that Tess was so well cared for! Tess just had her two week post op visit and was greeted like an old friend by Cesar and Dr. Carnes. Tess is doing fantastic and we couldn’t be happier or more thankful. I never would of thought I could have been comfortable leaving Tess under these circumstances but the amazing staff made it possible.”

“Our precious Nutmeg is a Dachshund mix. After being diagnosed with back pain by her regular vet., she was prescribed a 10 day supply of pain medication. The day after she took the final pill, Nutmeg was barely walking. This led to a visit to the emergency vet., who told us that Nutmeg had multiple disc problems in her back which required immediate surgery. We were referred to the Animal Specialty Hospital of FL, Naples, FL. Nutmeg was taken care of promptly. Within the hour, Nutmeg was X-rayed, diagnosed and under anesthesia, ready for surgery by Dr. Carnes. My dog, who was unable to walk hours earlier, was restored to perfect health. The staff work with a purpose. I knew that Nutmeg was in the best hands to handle her health concerns. Dr. Carnes and staff displayed their compassion and dedication by regularly communicating with us regarding Nutmeg before her surgery, after her surgery and during the three days she was in their care. I cannot express how grateful I am that this hospital was available to us. They saved our Nutmeg.”

“I would like to thank Dr. Carnes and her caring staff for providing the most excellent care that Max(14 yrs. old) has ever received. Since moving to Florida 2 years ago, poor Max has required a neck and a back surgery. After worrying each time that Max would never walk again, we quickly realized that because of your excellent surgical skills, he was up and “ready to go” within 2 weeks. In fact, we had to control him or he would want to start running. It is such a relief to know that should Max have anymore problems, you and your wonderful staff will be there to save him again.”

“Our beloved long haired miniature dachshund, Rolex, was running around the house with his tail wagging one day and the next he could barely walk. We took him to our regular vet who ran some tests to no avail. It was recommended that we take our dog. We met with Dr. Carnes who did an exam and suggested we have an MRI done to diagnose his problem. We thought it might be a back injury, but it turned out to be much more complicated. He was suffering from spinal meningitis and an auto immune form of arthritis. We were very concerned about his future but Dr.Carnes assured us we would eventually have our dog back. We were skepitcal but we wanted to believe her. Between the efforts of Dr. Carnes, Dr. Ayoob and Dr. Havig and all the amazing staff, we can now say our dog is just about back to normal. We are so fortunate that this extremely talented group of doctors and staff decided to locate in Naples. They have taken amazing care of our dog and we will forever be grateful for their compassion, talent, knowledge and for giving us our Rolex back.”

“We were visiting from out of state when one of our dogs became sick. We were not able to get a same day appointment for her at the local vet and chose to drive to Naples. The administrative staff was courteous on the phone and also in person when we arrived. The technician who took our dog back to weigh her was very sweet and loving to our dog. The waiting room was clean, as was the exam room. The technician and vet were both friendly, yet professional throughout the whole process. There was not much of a wait at all and the rate was comparable to what I would have paid at our local vet back home. I highly recommend them for any emergency and non-emergency needs”

“How do you thank someone for saving your dogs life? Dr Michelle Carnes and staff went beyond their abilities to save and cure my dog. Just a simple mutt that I adopted 4 years ago, not cute or adorable, but she had a charm that made me know she was right for my family. march 7th she came down with a severe head tilt. The vet sent us to Dr Carnes. it was was a brain tumor. Dr Carnes and staff operated and took extreme care. 3 weeks later she came home and has only improved every day. I only have the utmost THANKS and RESPECT for DR CARNES, STAFF AND ERIC.!!!!!!!!!!!”
